Marketplace Speaker Series: How Shall We Lead?
July 18, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm$10.
LEADERSHIP AND SPIRITUAL AUTHORITY IN BUSINESS
“Leadership” is an ambiguous, highly misunderstood and frequently misused term. Is leadership reserved for those with formal titles in an organization? As Christians, how shall we lead? Is God in control or in charge, and does it matter? Helen Mitchell will lead this session to show us how to increase our personal leadership impact – no matter what our job or title. We will explore the connection between business performance with an eternal perspective, unlock the secrets of how body, soul and spirit affect leadership and discover some of our own natural leadership tendencies, strengths and giftedness.
Helen Mitchell – Helen is passionate to see people fully activated and engaged in their calling, and the local church equipped to lead people into a Biblical understanding of work and vocation and its value and service to Christ. She is a speaker, author, consultant, and coach to business leaders and pastors, as well as a Faith@Work Strategist and a voice for women in the marketplace.
Helen currently serves as the Director of the Talbot Center for Faith, Work and Economics at Biola University. She is also adjunct faculty in Biola’s Crowell School of Business and Talbot School of Theology co-teaching Business Organizational Ethics in the Business undergrad program and is teaching Leadership, Change and Innovation in the MBA program. Helen is integrating her executive, pastoral and teaching experience to transform organizations, develop high potential business and marketplace leaders, and guide Pastors and church leaders in their Faith@Work ministry. She exponentially accelerates application, growth and transformation.
Mitchell started her business career with AT&T becoming a Vice President at the age of 30, and holding various leadership roles. As an early adopter of faith, work, and vocation in the local church, she is the architect and visionary of the Saddleback@Work ministry at Saddleback Church. She served as a licensed minister on the pastoral staff.
She is the founder and CEO of Strategic Management Resources, a strategy and management consulting firm, based in Orange County, CA.

WHAT IS MARKETPLACE?
In the words of its leadership team, a Marketplace event is “a night of networking, intentional conversation and learning. We have the amazing opportunity to collectively figure out where God is leading our careers as individuals in addition to how we as a community of believers impact our community-at-large.”
The format consists of an open time of networking followed by one of three events on a monthly rotational schedule of either 1) guided prayer for our vocational lives, 2) a guest speaker, or 3) a short teaching and interactive discussion time on successful faith and work integration.
